Celebrate ‘Green’ reading with the Rowley Public Library this summer!

The 2010 Statewide Summer Reading Program, "GoGreen", offers library events for children of all ages and their families from June 19th through August 14th, 2010. The staff at the Rowley Public Library has put together an exciting program around the ‘going green’ theme so that as you read this summer you can raise your awareness about what you can do to care for the environment and the earth.

Some highlights of the Rowley Public Library’s Summer Reading Program include, musicians, storytellers, magicians, family storytimes and crafts all centered on a green theme. Families who join the program will receive reading incentives and participants have the opportunity to earn several prizes as they work towards their individual reading goals for the summer. In addition, we will be keeping track of total reading hours in the library as we construct ‘green’ houses to decorate the Children’s Room.

Our goal through the Summer Reading Program is to have children experience the joy of reading and to encourage families to read together. This program is sure to excite children who love to read as well as reluctant readers. Each participant will choose a personal reading goal.

GoGreen @ Your Library is sponsored by The Rowley Public Library, the Massachusetts Regional Library System, the Boston Bruins, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners and the Friends of the Rowley Public Library. The Summer Reading Program is also supported in part by a grant from Rowley Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
